GU9 Champs at the 2009 La Jolla Labor Day Classic

Congratulations to Coach David Rowe and his GU9 team for winning the GU9 division of the 2009 La Jolla Labor Day Classic. The girls battled hard in pool play. In the final game against Albion White, the girls avenged an earlier loss to then in pool play with a 2-0 victory to take the championship.

RSF Attack Boys U-16 NHB Tournament Champions

Congratulations to Coach Malcolm Tovey and his Boys U-16 Green team for winning the 31st Annual NHB Cup Championship, Flight 2 Division, held in North Huntington Beach, CA over the Labor Day weekend. The Attack team earned their way to the Championship game after defeating a strong opponent, NVSC Blue, from the San Fernando Valley, in the semi-finals. It was an intense, physical game which ended in a 0-0 tie in regulation play. However, the Attack team prevailed by scoring a goal in double overtime, posting a final score of 1-0. The boys then faced tough competition in the Championship game, playing against Ballistic United from Pleasanton, CA. Once again, it was a thrilling game that ended in a 0-0 tie, and it seemed like the Ballistic Team would take home the trophy when they scored a goal in the last 3 minutes of double overtime. However, Malcolm's men made a truly spectacular effort and scored in the final 10 seconds of play, to tie up the game, 1-1 ! The championship game ended in penalty kicks, and the Attack team claimed victory with a final score of 2-1. Coach Malcom Tovey and his U-16 Boys are to be congratulated for an incredible display of teamwork, skilled play, and outstanding sportsmanship. Go Attack!

Attack Does Well At 2009 Encinitas Rotary Cup

Malcom Tovey's Rancho Santa Fe Attack Boys Under 17 take Rotary Cup Championship! The boys won all 3 of their pool games, only allowing 1 goal in and scoring 12 goals. The final was against FC Heat. The final ended in a tie so was decided in Penalty Kicks - RSF Attack had 3 PK's to the Heat's 2. Both goalies did a great job in the net! Congrats to the boys for a well played tournament!!

GU17 AAA 2009 Rotary Cup Champions

The GU17 AAA team won the Rotary Cup in a shoot out over a tough Arsenal team. The win was redemption for the loss two weeks prior in the Carlsbad Cup to the same Arsenal team. Coach Shawn remarked, "This team has made great progress and really stepped up their game to beat a strong Arsenal side." The team now looks forward to the West Coast Futbol Classic this weekend in Orange County.

B96G Competes in Surf Cup

Nate Hetherington's BU13 Green team had great competition over the Surf Cup weekend. Their first game was against back-to-back Surf Cup Champions LAFC who is ranked #1 nationally. It was a battle unitl the end, but Attack held their heads high after a 0-0 tie. The Attack boys then went on losing 1-2 to a strong Chicago opponent. In their last game, the Attack boys won 2-1 against the Dallas Texans, but unfortunately just missed the wildcard spot. Coach Nate said, "overall it was a wonderful weekend of tough competition and we showed once again we can play with the best of the best"!

G94W Wins 2009 Carlsbad Cup

Coach Nate Hetherington’s G94W team, in their first tournament of the year, battled to win the Girls Under 15 Silver Division of the 2009 Carlsbad Cup. The Attack girls have heart and worked hard in very hot conditions. Their team work, strategy and tenacious attitude led them to beat Carlsbad Lightning 3-0 in the finals. The team is in its second season and won the Presidio AA-B division last year going undefeated. The showing at this tournament brings hope and confidence that they will do well in the higher division this year. The team has a cohesiveness that is unprecedented in such a young team and combined with the coaching of Nate and the dedication of the players this team is positioned for success.

Girls U17 AAA were undefeated going into the finals of the 2009 Carlsbad Cup. Though losing 1-2 to a tough Arsenal squad, the team played very well giving up only 3 goals in the whole tournament. Coach Shawn Beyer said, "The team played really well and has come a long way in a short time. Looking forward to a great season."

RSF Attack GU11 Green Wins the 2009 SD Pegasus Cup Silver Division

The GU11 Green Attack soccer team had a superb weekend, winning the Pegasus Cup Soccer Tournament held June 27-29 in San Diego. It was a hard fought battle in the championship game against PQ Premier White. At the end of regulation they were tied 1-1 so after 2 overtimes it was decided with penalty kicks.

Attack's goalie, Clesi Crochet, was able to stop 2 of PQ's penalty kicks to allow the team a chance to win. Successful kicks by Maria Mendez, Taryn Tastad and Chelsea Loyd put Attack on top. Attack played 3 bracket games prior to the semi-finals against TVSA Hawks Red, Vista Storm and FC San Diego and finished with 2 wins and 1 tie. The semi-final game was played against West Coast Futbol Club with a final score of 2-1. The team scored 11 goals during the tournament and allowed only 4!

Attack BU10G Finalists in the 2009 Pegasus Cup Silver Division

After a disappointing defeat, 4-0, to the Nomads on Sat., June 27, RSF Attack BU10G won its second game that day against Encinitas Express, 3-0. The boys racked up another win on Sun., June 28, against FC San Diego, 8-0, and battled to an intense win, 4-3, against Aztecs AAA team on the second round of PKs.

That unbelievable win catapulted Attack into the BU10 Championship Game on Mon., June 29, at 12:30 p.m. against their nemesis Nomads! On a steamy Monday afternoon at Hourglass Field in Mira Mesa, Attack went head to head with its opponent and went up 1-0 on an assist from Jonathan Sabouri to guest player Kane Barton early in the first half. Nomads came back late in the first half to level the score to 1-1 at halftime. Attack fought to the end and took 2nd place at Pegasus Cup 2009. Final score 2-1. Well done RSF Attack BU10 Green!

BU11G are Finalists at the 2009 Arsenal FC Summer Classic

Coach Shawn Beyer's BU11G team was the finalists in the Under 10 Boys Gunners division of the 2009 Arsenal FC Summer Classic held last weekend (June 6-7). The boys played well in pool play winning both of their games against Arsenal White and Matrix - La Costa. The boys scored a 2-0 victory over PQ Premier in the semi-finals but fell in sudden death overtime to Notts Forest 2-1 in the championship game.

Coach Shawn said "The boys played well together and are looking forward to a great season." Congratulations to the players and the parents for a great tournament.
